4 Signs You Should Have Your Air Ducts Checked

May 17, 2021 | Blog

Out of all of the areas of your home that you have to remember to clean and keep tidy, how often does checking your air ducts come to mind? The chances are high that checking your air ducts might be at the bottom of the checklist, but it’s a good idea to regularly check your air ducts. Here are four signs that you should have your air ducts checked.

More Dust Than Usual

If you’re noticing more dust accumulating in certain places or even flying around in the air of your home, it’s probably due to your air ducts being too dirty. This most likely means that your air ducts are filled with the dirt and debris that finds its way into your home, and there is so much of it that it cannot accumulate anymore. This build up actually has more to do with a dirty or damaged AC coil, rather than an issue with your ducts.

Increased Energy Costs

If you begin to notice that your energy bill has gradually been getting higher, a dirty air duct may be to blame. Since there are obvious hotter and colder times during the year, your AC and heater expenses should stay pretty consistent throughout the year. If you notice that you’ve been needing to work your system a little bit more for the season, it could be a good idea to hire a professional for an air duct service.

Inconsistent Airflow

Due to the major buildup of dirt and debris inside of your air ducts, it could result in inconsistent airflow into different rooms. Maybe one room in your house isn’t quite getting the same airflow as a different room in your house. If the air ducts are clean, that most likely wouldn’t be the problem. If you are noticing that one or more of your rooms aren’t feeling like the other rooms that do feel right, consider some AC maintenance.

Possible Visible Mold Growth

Since the stuff that blocks and accumulates inside of your air ducts are dirt and debris of all different kinds, it makes sense that it could potentially grow into mold. Mold grows fast and can be a lot more harmful than the basic dirt and debris that is usually in your home. If you begin to visibly see mold or wet spots around the outside of your vents, it is time to call on the professionals for AC duct maintenance.

Many other small warning signs indicate you should check out your air ducts, but these four are a good four to start with. What Our Customers Have To Say

Had Us Up and Running in a Couple of Hours

Tanner was our service tech. Our heat quit on a Friday night and I called Absolute Comfort Air on Saturday morning. Tanner came to our home about an hour and a half after my phone call and diagnose the problem, explained the circumstances, and gave me a detailed quote. He then proceeded to make the repair.  He worked steadily and had us up and running in a couple of hours. Tanner was very polite, explained things in detail, and answered my questions very patiently. Thank you for a job well done.
